I am a theoretical astrophysicist working in the field of numerical relativity and gravitational wave physics. In particular I am one of the main developers of the fully general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic code Whisky. I use this code to study several astrophysical phenomena, such as gamma-ray bursts, binary neutron stars, black hole binaries, neutron star collapse to black hole. I am currently a research associate at JILA (Boulder, CO) working in the group of Rosalba Perna. Starting from October 1 2013 I will be an assistant professor at the Department of Physics of the University of Trento (Italy). On October 10 2012 JILA published a research highlight on my recent work about accretion induced collapse of neutron stars to black holes. On September 27 2012 NASA Goddard Space Flight Center circulated a press release about my work on merging black holes. The video from the press release is also available on NASA YouTube Channel. On April 7 2011 NASA circulated a press release about my work on binary neutron stars. Together with the press release, NASA produced a video for the general public explaining my results. The video is also available on NASA/GSFC YouTube Channel. |
